The fishing and lake open-air museum opened in 1987 and has found its place in the heart of the fishing village in Port de Rives. It is sheltered by three traditional huts and beats to the tune of the professional fishermen who are never far away.
Founded in about 1095 by monks that came from the Molesne abbey in Burgundy, the abbey affiliated itself to the Cistercians in 1136 after which it became one of the most powerful in medieval Savoie due its income from property rights.
Beautiful castle built on former roman vestiges in the 12th Century, when Savoie was an independent land… Saint François de Sales like other prestigious historical personages liked to stay in this castle.
